The Easter Story . . . Phrase by Phrase
by Monty Watson on April 20th, 2011

Early on Sunday morning.
Mary Magdalene came to the tomb.
The stone had been rolled away.
She ran and found Peter.
“They have taken the Lord!”
Peter and John race to the tomb.
Nothing left but grave clothes.
John “saw and believed.”
Mary crying.
“Mary.”
“Rabboni?”
“Yes, it’s Me. Go tell your brothers.”
“I HAVE SEEN THE LORD!”
Later, behind locked doors.
Suddenly, Jesus was standing there.
“Peace be with you.”
His hands, His side.
They were filled with joy.
But Thomas is not there.
“I will not believe unless I see.”
Eight days later.
Again, behind locked doors.
Suddenly, Jesus was standing there.
“Thomas. My hands, my side.”
“My Lord and my God!”

These things have been written
So that you may believe
That Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God,
And that by believing
You may have life.

John 20
